Music: One Direction Worth $100 Million By Next Year?
One Direction look set to double their value by this time next year to more than $100 million.
Two years ago no one had heard the names Harry Styles or Zayn Malik and One Direction did not even exist as a band. Thanks to Simon Cowell and their appearance on The X Factor though, it is now a very different story.
According to The Mirror, Harry, Zayn, Niall, Louis and Liam will rake in the equivalent of more than £64 million through their tours, album and merchandise sales.
One Direction are signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco label here in the UK and have a deal with Columbia records in the US where they are currently touring.
Their debut album Up All Night has so far gone to number one in 16 countries and they have just released a live DVD of their sold out UK tour which has topped the charts around the world.
One Direction Employ 90 Staff
It’s not just the boys and Mr Cowell benefitting from the success of One Direction either. Team 1D currently employs around 90 people – everything from stylists to tour managers and producers all earn a living out of One Direction.
Zayn Malik recently spent some of his new found fortune on a £2.2 million house, not to be out done Louis Tomlinson also got into the property market with a £2.5 million five bedroom home in North London while Harry Styles opted for a more modest £575k property in East London.
We doubt the boys will have any time to enjoy their new homes as One Direction will begin working on their second album once the US tour finishes in July. Once that is in the can they will embark on an international promotional campaign before touring again from February 2013.
One Direction – The Up All Night Live Tour DVD is out now.
