So tonight, the countdown to Christmas officially begins with the return of the only show worth staying in for on a Saturday… ….(in shouty E4 man voice) THE X FACTOR!!

Dannii was of course busy popping one out during the first stage of this year’s competition so in her absence we’ll be ‘treated’ to a selection of guest judges. First up, it’s OAP Spice Geri Halliwell – who from what I’ve heard basically talks too much and makes a bit of an arse of herself.

We’ve also got the drama of Cheryl’s malaria to look forward to… I think on screen it basically just involves her resting her head on a desk at some point.

There seems to have been more leaks than ever before from the audition stages of the competition, but of all the names that have been bandied about – I’m backing these guys:

F.Y.E – are a boyband with a bit of a difference. Several of the guys have already appeared on the show as backing dancers. Their thing seems to be to put a sort of barbershop style twist on big chart hits…here’s their version of David and Kelly’s ‘When Love Takes Over’:

We have of course also got the usual parade of ‘special’ performers to look forward to – there’s a preview of a couple of those over on the official X Factor website.
