Movies: New Movies This Week – Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Chernobyl Diaries and The Five Year Engagement
Welcome to our look at the best new movies in cinemas this week.
With the summer holidays getting ever closer, it is the lull before the summer blockbusters storm hits us but there are still several new movies worth seeing including Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Chernobyl Diaries and The Five Year Engagement…
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Contrary to what you might have learnt at school old Abe Lincoln was not just a 16th century American president, oh no. It turns out he also moonlighted as a vampire hunter in an attempt to avenge the death of his mother who was killed by a supernatural creature. In the process of this he uncovers a plot by those naughty little vampires to try and take over the US. This 3D horror starring Dominic Cooper tells the story of him trying to stop that happening.

Chernobyl Diaries
Six tourists/idiots hire an extreme tour guide to take them to an abandoned city which used to be home to the workers of the Chernobyl power plant. Brought to you by the makers of Paranormal Activity, the biggest nuclear disaster of all time is quite questionably used as the basis for this jump filled horror. It is as cheap and badly acted as you would expect but included in this week’s pick of the new movies because we know a lot of you love this sort of thing!
The Five Year Engagement
If all that blood and guts and gore is too much for you then you will be pleased to hear our third choice is a rom-com. Brought to you by the makers of last year’s smash hit comedy Bridesmaids, The Five Year Engagement tells the story of a couple who get engaged a year after meeting but find their attempts to walk down the aisle thwarted at every opportunity. Emily Blunt and HIMYM’s Jason Segal make for a great pairing on screen and secure themselves a place in this week’s pick of the new movies.
