Madonna will perform a mash-up of ‘Express Yourself’ and the Lady Gaga hit ‘Born This Way’ when she kicks off her MDNA world tour in Tel Aviv tomorrow night.

It is the latest twist in an ongoing discussion about similarities between the two tracks released 20 years apart.

Secretly filmed rehearsal footage of Madonna’s mash-up has now leaked on the internet, in it she sings the chorus from Gaga’s 2011 hit ‘Born This Way’ over the top of ‘Express Yourself’.

This could have been seen as a respectful nod to Gaga’s success and talent were it not for the introduction of another Madonna track towards the end of the mash-up, the poignantly titled ‘She’s Not Me’.

Madonna has previously told reporters that when she heard ‘Born This Way’ on the radio for the first time it “felt reductive” and that she had noticed the similarity.

In her defence, Gaga when asked by NME about the two tracks said “If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression.”

It seems this is pop controversy that refuses to go away. With the battle lines drawn, we wait patiently for Gaga’s response…
